The Himachal Regional Centre of the Institute organized a State Level Workshop on “Network Development & Synergy Building for Establishment of Himalayan Knowledge Network (HKN) in the Himachal Pradesh State” through online/virtual mode (via Webex) on 25 September, 2020 under the project “Himalayan Calling: Bridging Science, Policy and Practices to Foster Sustainable Development in the Indian Himalayan Region”. The Scientists from the different Scientific Institutes and Professors from different universities of the Himachal Pradesh participated in this workshop. Inputs & recommendations were given by each Participants/Panelist on “Identification and Prioritization of two thematic areas of the Himachal Pradesh state and role of departments/Institutions for preparation of thematic reports” by Representatives of each Department/Institution. 2. Water Resource Conservation and Management
3. Climate Change
4. Traditional and Indigenous Knowledge System
5. Urban Solid Waste Management
6. Horticulture Development and Management
7. Sustainable Eco-Tourism
8. Disaster Management
9. Entrepreneurship Development
10. Live Stock Production and Management
11. Capacity Building & Skill Development
Among the eleven thematic areas which have been
discussed in the workshop, two main prioritize areas which have been finalized are
Biodiversity Conservation and Management (BCM) and Water Resource Conservation and
Management (WRCM).
