Youth Forum Event organized by JK Chapter of Himalayan Knowledge Network A ‘Youth Forum Event’ under the aegis of JK Chapter of Himalayan Knowledge Network was organized on 22nd August 2022. About 100 students from different institutions of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir participated in the event besides research scholars, faculty members, scientists and the members of civil society. The event was inaugurated by Prof. Nilofer Khan, Vice Chancellor, University of Kashmir who appreciated the initiative of Himalayan Knowledge Network and underscored the need for joint efforts for sustainable development of the Indian Himalayan Region with the active involvement of youth. Other dignitaries on inaugural function were Dean Research, Registrar, Deans’ of various schools, faculty members from various institutions. The objectives of the event and HKN were shared with all the participants.


A debate and a painting competition was held on this occasion in which large number of youth participated.
The themes for competitions were the same that have been identified through a consultative process for the JK chapter.

1. Water Resources: Current status and sustainable management
Painting
2. Biodiversity: Current status, conservation and sustainable utilization
The best performances in both debate and painting competition were judged by the experts and best three performances in each competition were awarded cash prizes.
